New Building Design and Specs Completed
Design and specifications for SBE’s new manufacturing facility have now been largely completed.
High-Tech and Highly Efficient Building Construction-
Our 53,000ft2 building, like our product, will be a green energy project. Designed to be as efficient as the electric vehicle drivetrains our product will power, our new facility will be a low ceiling, tightly insulated, HVAC building utilizing a host of energy efficient strategies. The low ceiling will reduce overall facility volume, thus making it easier to heat and cool. The high rated insulation will ensure that the energy we do expend stays within our walls. Additionally, the HVAC units will be equipped with economizers, a sophisticated device that makes use of external air temperature to heat or cool the building. Combine this with the latest in energy efficient lighting and water fixtures, and SBE’s new building is a step into the 21st century.
Efficient Layout Design, Efficient Production-
Utilizing a Lean Manufacturing process model, production will flow through the entrance from one process to the next until our final product leaves through the same door the materials came in. By strategically planning our production floor layout to mirror our production process we can reduce both wasted time and materials, and maximize efficiency.
Modern Clean Room-
Our 3,700ft2 Class 10,000 clean room will not only be the crown jewel of our facility, but it will be a symbol of the constant improvement in the development of our Power Ring film capacitors, to ensure their highest possible purity. Located in the center of the facility’s open floor production area, the clean room will be the focal point of the facility. Housing our new automated winding machines in a controlled clean room environment ensures that every Power Ring will perform to our exceptionally high standards.
Attractive Office Space-
Integrating 17 private offices and 24 work stations, spaces for engineering teams, 2 conference rooms and a large lunch /training room, the 13,000 ft2 space has been designed with one core value in mind: “creating an enjoyable workspace for employees”. For that reason, we have favored larger window areas, good natural light throughout the entire space, open spaces, open ceilings and high ceiling heights, and a number of places for formal and informal team meetings. The lunch room will also be equipped to convert as a training room and the kitchen will be equipped to welcome catering services for our workforce.
We are ready and hoping for an early spring to break ground!
