Next Generation Winding Machine Arrives in Barre
Active Precision, Inc. (API) in Burlington, MA has been designing our second generation film winding machines for the Power Rings, over the past year and is an important partner on the DoE Manufacturing Initiative Project. The first generation of these winding machines has already produced over a thousand parts over the past couple of years and our engineers and operators are very excited about the high performance the new machines demonstrate. Our engineers were on site in Burlington over the past month for some fine tuning for the machines to operate at the best of their ability. It’s with very special care that the first unit was transported to Barre last week and we cannot wait to see the first production units off the line. Moreover, this machine, which was engineered and built directly with SBE and API funds, lays the technical groundwork for the Generation III winding machine design which will be used in the new manufacturing plant. The first Generation III machine is expected to be ready by the 3rd quarter 2010.
