White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Visiting SBE, Inc.

On Friday, July 16th, Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, will be in Barre, Vermont to visit SBE, Inc (dba SB Electronics).  She will join Governor Jim Douglas and officials from the offices of Senator Patrick Leahy, Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Peter Welch for tours of SBE’s new and existing facilities and a briefing by company leaders.  After a tour of the current facility, the group will then move to SBE’s new location in the Wilson Industrial Park for a tour and remarks from Nancy Sutley, along with Governor Douglas.

Earlier in the year, SBE Inc. won a matching grant of $9.1 million as the major piece of funding for an $18 million project under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Electrical Drive Vehicle Battery and Component Manufacturing Initiative, part of President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  SBE’s Department of Energy grant is helping the company build a new manufacturing facility to produce electric drive components for the automotive industry.  SBE’s new manufacturing plant facility will have capacity to produce Power Ring capacitors for over 100,000 plug-in hybrid and electric drive vehicles within 3 years.
